The Green Product Awards, a standout event celebrating products that redefine how we think about design, innovation, and most importantly, sustainability, recently showcased groundbreaking advancements. With 1,500 submissions from 60 countries, this year has set a new record for participation, underscoring the growing importance of sustainable materials in moving towards a circular economy.
Spotlight on the Green Product Awards
Each year, the Green Product Awards honor outstanding products and concepts in design, innovation, and sustainability. From 250 nominees, winners are chosen across 12 categories, celebrating their achievements in a vibrant ceremony held at the Nordic Embassies on April 30th. The event kicks off at 2:00 PM with expert presentations and pitches from upcoming designers who have participated in the Green Cells program funded by the IKEA Foundation.
Key Highlights from the Jury Winners
- LOVR™: A leather alternative made from hemp fibers by Revoltech GmbH.
- Green Marathon: The first circular bicycle tire by Schwalbe.
- Wooden Cable Ties: An innovative twist on a common tool.
- Recycled Paper Mannequins: Created by Pasqual Arnella.
- Little Skittles: A noiseless bowling game for kids made from cork.
- Conscious Confetti: Biodegradable confetti made from leftover edible paper production waste.
- CUBE: A hemp-based office system by VANK.
- Mini City Cars: These shrink for easier parking.
- Sustainable Bio-Capsules: Used with drones for reforesting rainforests.
Public favorites were also celebrated, chosen through an online vote attracting over 60,000 participants.
