Sten Tamkivi, a partner at Plural, praised Monumental’s vision, highlighting the startup’s potential to address the dual challenges of meeting housing demands and reducing the construction industry’s economic and environmental impact. “Monumental represents the perfect synergy of ambition, technological innovation, and practical application to tackle an industry that is reaching its breaking point,” Tamkivi remarked.
Following successful pilot projects in the Netherlands, including the completion of a large-scale, 15-meter wall in 2023, Monumental has demonstrated the effectiveness and reliability of its technology. The company has already secured contracts with several top general contractors, signaling strong industry interest in its robotic solutions.
Founded in 2021 by Salar al Khafaji and CTO Sebastiaan Visser, Monumental is not just a testament to the potential of AI and robotics in construction but also a beacon of innovation in an industry ripe for change.
