Hong Kong Delegation Eyes Global Investors

As the world turns its eyes towards innovative biotechnology solutions, a group of promising Hong Kong biotech start-ups is preparing to make a significant impact at the Bio International Convention in San Diego. This pivotal event, scheduled from June 3 to June 6, is renowned as the largest and most comprehensive gathering in the biotechnology industry.

Showcasing Innovations at the Hong Kong Pavilion

For the first time since 2019, representatives from sixteen companies and institutions based in the Hong Kong Science Park will travel to the U.S. to participate. They plan to occupy a sprawling 1,000 square foot area dubbed the “Hong Kong Pavilion,” where they will showcase their latest innovations in biotech. The participation aims not only to attract investors but also to forge meaningful international collaborations.

Strategic Growth and Global Aspirations

Grace Lau, head of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation’s Institute of Translational Research, emphasizes the city’s robust growth in biotech. “We hope to put Hong Kong back on the biotech map,” Lau stated. While the city has developed rapidly, it remains relatively underrecognized outside Asia as a biotech hub. This event represents a strategic effort to change that perception and highlight Hong Kong’s contributions to the biotech sector.

Expanding Connections Beyond Asia

Despite the significant strides in local development and collaboration within the Greater Bay Area, there remains a critical need for Hong Kong’s biotech sector to integrate with counterparts in the West. The Bio International Convention provides an optimal platform for these connections, offering Hong Kong start-ups the opportunity to engage with global industry leaders and innovators.
