Apple is preparing to launch its next big update, iOS 18, which will bring several new artificial intelligence (AI) features to iPhones. The update is planned to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024. The focus of this update is to make iPhones more helpful in everyday tasks through enhanced AI capabilities.
Key new features in the iOS 18 include automatic summarization of notifications, quick summaries of news articles for easy reading, transcription of voice memos into text, improved suggestions for calendar events, and recommendations for apps based on user preferences.
While Apple is also adding new AI-powered photo editing tools, these might not be as advanced as similar features found in other smartphones. Despite these enhancements, Apple has not yet developed its own AI chatbot like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, partly due to concerns about potential controversies.
Reports suggest that Apple might collaborate with OpenAI to integrate its technology into iOS 18, which could be officially announced at the upcoming WWDC. There are also discussions about possibly using Google’s Gemini AI technology, but no deal has been finalized yet.
Furthermore, Apple is reportedly exploring the idea of creating its own search engine to offer a privacy-focused alternative to Google, similar to DuckDuckGo.
With these updates, Apple aims to make the iPhone smarter and more useful for its users by integrating intelligent features that assist with daily activities.
