Apple is planning a significant update for its Calculator app, which may include its debut on the iPad, along with enhancements for both macOS and iOS. With the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) scheduled for June 10, expectations are high that the new features will be showcased during the event’s keynote.
iPad Finally Gets a Calculator
According to MacRumors, after 14 years since the iPad’s release, Apple is ready to include a Calculator app in the upcoming iPadOS 18. An unnamed source revealed that the new Calculator app will be available for all iPad models compatible with the latest operating system update.
Enhancements for macOS Calculator
AppleInsider reports that the macOS version of the Calculator app will also receive updates. Codenamed “GreyParrot,” the revised app will have a new look, similar to the iOS version, with rounded buttons that become pill-shaped as the window expands. A notable addition will be a history tape feature, allowing users to see past calculations. This feature will include a dedicated button and be available across basic, scientific, and programmer modes of the app.
New Features for iPhone Too
The iPhone isn’t being left out, with rumors from AppleInsider suggesting a new feature called Math Notes will be part of iOS 18. This feature is expected to integrate the Calculator with the Notes app, allowing users to export calculations to a note for record-keeping or further additions.
These updates aim to enhance functionality across Apple’s devices, making everyday tasks like calculations more integrated and user-friendly.
